Viktoria Maliar
Viktoria Maliar is a fine art painter from Berlin. Viktoria works in a range of mediums but is typically use to using oils in her paintings.
Her work takes great influence an inspiration from the expressionist movement. Viktoria likes to see where she can go with her work, that enables her to create these very peculiar figures.
The use of oils in her work is something that Viktoria likes to experiment with. Depending on the style, size, colours etc. Viktoria likes to manipulate with her oil paints texture, sometimes in her work she will build up her paintings in thin layers. As the piece comes together she then begins to add more thicker layers to finish off the piece.
Throughout her work Viktoria has found a great source of inspiration from artist Susan Rothenberg, especially from her iconic paintings of horses. Viktoria is drawn to these horses not only for their powerful grace, but also for their flaws. Viktoria finds that some of the horses are turned from a profile image to a frontal one, exposing dark, human-like spectres moving toward her.
I find Viktoria's work very interesting and influential in my own future work that I create. The use of textures in her oil paints give her paintings a strong visual appearance, which adds to the overall painting. Her style is very much a kin to the expressionist era, an art movement that I have become more inspired by recently. Her work is a powerful drive in my creative drive and I hope to be inspired by her work in my future work.
