During drawing I found myself invested in creating life studies as well as continuous line drawings. These were at the fore front of my inspiration for the drawing experiments I wanted to create. I also liked the idea of ruining them or creating some deterioration to the drawings.
The multiple portraits were a fun experiment to develop. I originally wanted to layer the drawings with ink and then spray acetone on each layer. Instead I just layered the portraits in a red and black ink then added acetone to areas so that the lines would bleed. The end result was good but I felt frustrated that I didn't get the bleeds of ink that I wanted. I went on to look at bleach and somehow added that as a component to my work. I had a piece of black card which I hadn't used yet so I decided to pour bleach over the card. Once I saw the results of what bleach does to the card I decided to add a portrait on top to give the piece some depth. Overall I liked what I was able to create with bleach included so I wanted to look into drawing a portrait using bleach too. |
