David Tress
David Tress is an English artist noted particularly for his deep personal interpretations of landscapes in an around his home in Pembrokeshire.
Tress had always shown an interest in painting and drawing. He went on to spend a year at Harrow College of Art before taking a fine art degree course at Trent Poly Technic.
David finds influence an inspiration from various artists. Painter Ben Nicholson was his first artist that he was interested an also the water colour pieces of John Singer Sargent. David later discovered abstract expressionism, which continues to be his influence to this day.

Tress' pieces start off by physically scraping or cutting the painted surface, repairing it and then building up layer upon layer. Eventually his work builds up such depth and definition from the layers that it becomes a 3d abstract piece.
David's landscape work is rather loose. I found that his painting style is loose but there is a sense of control and detail in his pieces. The use of him deconstructing the paintings surface and reconstructing it gives the painting such depth and texture. The layers fall of the canvas as if there's more to see than just the perimeters of the frame.
