Chris Court
Chris Court is a watercolour and mixed media artist who uses local landscapes, seascapes for her inspiration. The constant change in light and the drama of movement in the skies and the coast are her inspiration as well.
When Chris is working she takes photos, colour notes, sketches and recordings and then paints an experiment in her studio.
Chris found inspiration in Ann Buckely's work with the cling film technique she uses. She then wanted to find a way of developing that technique into her own work.
Chris will usually start out by planning her design in a sketch. This allows her to know where she can add textures with the cling film afterwards.

The she will begin to paint a basic base layer. Chris wants the attention and detail to be on the stems and leaves so she would add more paint to this area. This will allow the film to stick and give that texture.

Personally I find Chris' work great but it doesn't excite me like my own experiments did. The methods that Chris uses is more subtle and blend into the artwork seamlessly. I would rather have the technique be more obvious in a piece rather than just be a subtle detail. This technique has definitely intrigued me an I'll potentially do more research on artists who do the same technique,
