Ceramics work comes with a range of health and safety measures. So it is important to make sure I know what precautions to take or what I need to do to avoid any accidents.

Basic Rules for Health & Safety
One of the most important things to so is make sure that the work station is hazard free. Chairs should be under the table, floors should be clean of spills as should tables.

There is also equipment to wear for personal protection. Using an apron can help to protect clothing from any dust or slip which can stain or ruin clothes.

No food or drink is allowed in thee work station. This is contaminating the work space as well as harming the individual. Breathing or digesting the dust can be harmful.

Equipment should always be washed once it is no longer being used. boards, tools, rolling pins etc should all be washed down with warm water and dried down.
|
When applying things like glazes, oxides an slip decoration, you must be careful. Glazes should be wiped down from the bottom of a clay piece so it doesn't stick to the kiln.
