Creating an Editorial
Illustration
i began to research some news articles to see what inspired me. I recently was focused on the news of the Tory Mp's voting to not pay for free school meals over the holidays. The articles I found mainly ridiculed the Tory party for not deeming the tax essential. This topic gave me a range of ideas for what I could do.
I followed up by researching some editorial illustrations. I was initially inspired by the politic illustrations that you find in a newspaper. The overall art style fitted the theme so well that I started to have a vivid idea of the design I wanted to create.
I know that I wanted to make a clear depiction of neglect and insensitivity that the Tory party have over this subject. The overall idea of a child visibly upset with an empty plate, whilst Boris Johnson is opposite shovelling a fist full of money. The illustration is to symbolise the immature attitude of the party with the use of money being grovelled into his mouth. |
