What is ISO?
ISO can also help to be more flexible about your aperture and shutter speed
Shutter speed is the mirror that goes up at the same speed to allow light into the camera.
The shutter speed can change, it can become faster to capture more light or slow down and capture less light.
When using a faster shutter speed it is typically used when capturing an object in motion such as a car, bird or person running.

The basic tools to understanding a camera is ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed.
All three of these settings can work together to capture the desired exposure a person may need when doing photography. They all have different uses but they all have the capability of being used together to create using high quality professional photographs. |
Shutter Speed
Aperture
As you can see the lower the 'f' setting the more that is in focus in the foreground. Whilst the background is out of focus
|
As for the higher 'f' setting it allows for more exposure so that the foreground and background are both in focus.

ISO
ISO is simply a camera setting that will brighten or darken a photo. As you can see as you increase the ISO number, the photos will grow progressively brighter. For that reason, ISO can help when I want capture images in darker environments.
