As an introduction to drawing we began by looking at objects and then drawing the image blindly. We would be relying on our hands an using our eyes to completely observe the subject.
After the practices in class we were given advice on doing some drawings at home and seeing what the outcomes would be.
I found some objects at home which I used to create some blind contour drawings. I also overlapped one drawing using a pen on top of the pencil drawing to give it some dimension. The loose style gives it a sort of freedom with the lines as it allows me to produce an imperfect recreation of the the subjects that are in front of me.
The continuous line work that we did in class was fun to do. It felt rather freeing to drawing a subject without focussing solely on my the page. As well as just being able to trust your hand and look at the subject completely without knowing where the errors may be. The continuous line studies gives you an element of surprise as you only get to see what you have done once you have at the end. I think this work was useful as it help me to not be so perfect with a sketch and to let my hand loosen up and take over the whole process. I will definitely be doing more continuous lines in my future work.
